Exhibition Catalogues

CLIENT: INTERNATIONAL ARTS & ARTISTS/MUSEUMS • BOOK DESIGN

As the lead designer at International Arts & Artists’ Design Studio in Washington, D.C., I created catalogues to accompany visual art exhibitions as they travel across museums and cultural institutions in the U.S. and abroad. For me, a main goal is to make the art and artists shine while accurately portraying the artwork. I worked closely with the curators, exhibition coordinators, artists and translators on the design, image placement, and layout to achieve books that look and feel at one with their content.

Printed books are sensory objects whose feel, colors, and shape influence the reader’s experience. In this 144-page catalogue, I chose to use alternating signatures of uncoated paper with essays and coated paper with image reproductions, drawing you to touch the pages and letting the image colors pop.
